Truck Accident Lawyers SATX is the website of LAWBOSS – Uvalle Law Firm, PLLC, whose San Antonio office is in Fountainhead Tower on I-10. We handle truck crash cases across Bexar County and in the cities around it. Each of them has its own mix of freight roads, and the county figures below come from TxDOT’s 2024 count of crashes involving a commercial motor vehicle, with data as of April 9, 2025.
| County | Cities on this page | Crashes involving a commercial vehicle, 2024 | Killed | Suspected serious injuries |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bexar | San Antonio, Converse, Universal City, Live Oak, Leon Valley, Helotes | 2,684 | 18 | 46 |
| Comal | New Braunfels | 205 | 5 | 10 |
| Guadalupe | Seguin, Schertz | 423 | 2 | 14 |
| Kendall | Boerne | 70 | 3 | 5 |
Northeast along I-35: Live Oak, Universal City, Schertz and New Braunfels
I-35 carries the freight that comes north from the Laredo region, which TxDOT says handled more than six of every ten commercial trucks crossing the Texas-Mexico border in 2024. Past Loop 410 it runs northeast through Live Oak, where it meets Loop 1604, then past Universal City and Schertz into New Braunfels in Comal County. TxDOT’s I-35 NEX Central project is building elevated lanes on 9.5 miles of I-35 from I-410 North to FM 3009, with completion estimated for late 2027, so much of this stretch is a work zone. Schertz reaches south to I-10 as well, so trucks on both interstates pass through it.
Converse
Converse lies in northeast Bexar County inside and around Loop 1604, between I-35 and I-10. Trucks use Loop 1604 to move between the two interstates without going through the city, and they share it with commuter traffic at every interchange.
East on I-10: Seguin
Seguin, the seat of Guadalupe County, sits on I-10 east of San Antonio, on the route long-haul trucks take between San Antonio and Houston. Guadalupe County recorded 423 crashes involving a commercial motor vehicle in 2024, with 2 people killed and 14 suspected serious injuries.
Northwest on I-10: Boerne
Boerne, the seat of Kendall County, sits on I-10 northwest of San Antonio, where the interstate climbs into the Hill Country toward El Paso. Kendall County recorded 70 crashes involving a commercial motor vehicle in 2024, with 3 people killed. On the grades and curves of the Hill Country, brakes and speed are the first questions after a truck crash; under 49 CFR 393.48 all of a truck’s brakes must be capable of operating at all times.
Northwest Bexar County: Leon Valley and Helotes
Leon Valley lies along Bandera Road near Loop 410 on the northwest side, and Helotes further out along Bandera Road beyond Loop 1604. Delivery trucks, dump trucks and construction vehicles on the northwest side use both loops and Bandera Road. Many of these vehicles are not 18-wheelers, but in interstate commerce a vehicle rated 10,001 pounds or more is a commercial motor vehicle under 49 CFR 390.5, and Texas applies the federal safety rules to intrastate vehicles over 26,000 pounds.
San Antonio itself
Inside the city, I-35, I-10, I-37, US 281 and US 90 all meet Loop 410, and trucks change highways at those interchanges every day. Our truck wreck lawyer San Antonio page covers each of the freight corridors in more detail.
South and southeast: the Eagle Ford counties
The Railroad Commission of Texas lists Atascosa and Wilson counties, both bordering Bexar County, among the counties affected by the Eagle Ford Shale. Oilfield tank trucks, sand haulers and water trucks travel between those counties and San Antonio. TxDOT counted 129 crashes involving a commercial motor vehicle in Atascosa County and 78 in Wilson County in 2024.
Trauma care for the region
People seriously hurt in truck crashes in these cities are often taken to San Antonio’s two Level I trauma centers, University Hospital and Brooke Army Medical Center. The Army describes Brooke Army Medical Center as one of two Level I trauma centers serving San Antonio and 22 surrounding counties.
